Methods: Potential studies were identified through PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, HuGeNet, GeneCard and WoS up from 1980 until June 2015 (week 5). Published observational studies reporting NRXN1 variants in PSD cases and in non-PSD controls were all considered eligible for inclusion in this systematic review. Two reviewers selected studies for possible inclusion and extracted data independently following a standardized protocol. Different meta-analyses were performed for each NRXN1 variant and PSD and controls, with a random-effect model to calculate the pooled OR and its corresponding 95% CI. Forest plots and Cochran's Q-Statistic and I2 index were calculated to check for heterogeneity. Subgroup analyses and chi-square test were carried out to analyze potential moderators. Publication bias and quality of reporting were also analyzed. Results: 19 studies met our inclusion criteria, providing a total sample of 25208 patients with PSD and 56971 controls. Meta-analyses of NRXN1 deletions (OR = 3.36), exons (OR = 3.53) and introns (OR = 2.02) showed evidence of an association between NRXN1 gene and PSD. Meta-arguments are arguments about one or more arguments, or argumentation in general. Conventional methods for optimal route determination which incorporates coarse scale paper maps, hand delineation methods and manual overlay of elevation layers have often been used in optimal routing activities for oil and gas pipelines. However, errors associated with coarse scale data, user subjectivity and manual overlays have led to considerations for alternative techniques. This book outlines a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) based methodology for determining an optimal pipeline route that incorporates Multi Criteria Evaluation (MCE) and Least Cost Path Analysis (LCPA). This methodology allows for objective evaluation of different cost surface layers for weighting the constraints that determine the optimal route location. The methodology also allows for evaluation of several factors and constraints, allowing for an optimal route that meets among others; economic, environmental and security expectations or a general hybrid solution for the client and the community.

This book is concerned with the statistical analysis of brain signals of epilepsy patients. It uses methods from parametric and nonparametric spectral estimation, causality analysis, signal detection and factor analysis. The book deals with automated procedures for determining the seizure onset zone (SOZ) and the early seizure spread. As the visual inspection of brain signals during the presurgical evaluation of therapy-resistant patients is a time-demanding and highly subjective task, a complimentary computational approach is clinically desired. For this purpose four automated methods for epileptic seizure propagation analysis are proposed. They aim at the analysis of two different epileptiform patterns: The analysis of spatial and temporal dependencies in rhythmic theta-activity, which is commonly observed in focal epilepsy, and the detection of a novel class of highly specific SOZ-markers, high-frequency oscillations (HFOs). The book starts with chapters on the medical and statistical background, followed by a presentation of the methods for epileptic seizure propagation analysis. Finally a comparison of the results obtained with clinical findings is given.
