A satellite moving around the Earth is perturbed by the gravitational force of the Moon. So its orbit may not be stable. In this work, the author uses numerical method to calculate the motion of the satellite. It is assumed that the satellite is so small that it does not influence the Earth and the Moon, but itself is influenced by the Earth and the Moon. It is found that the stability of the orbit of the satellite changes as a function of the satellite's distance to the Earth (or to the Moon). In three ranges of distance (which correspond to 2/1 resonance, 3/1 resonance, and 4/1 resonance respectively), the satellite's orbit is unstable, and the satellite eventually flies away from the Earth-Moon system. In other ranges of distance, the satellite's orbit is stable, but the semi-major axis of the orbit oscillates, and the orientation of the semi-major axis also changes through time.

The nonlinear behaviors of DC-DC converters have been studied heavily over the past 20 years, yet researchers are still unsure of the practical application of bifurcations and chaos in switching converters. The electromagnetic interference (EMI), which resulted from the high rates of changes of voltage and current, has become a major design criterion in DC-DC converters due to wide applications of various electronic devices in industry and daily life, and the question of how to reduce the annoying, harmful EMI has attracted much research interest. This book focuses on the analysis and application of chaos to reduce harmful EMI of DC-DC converters. After a review of the fundamentals of chaos behaviors of DC-DC converters, the authors present some recent findings such as Symbolic Entropy, Complexity and Chaos Point Process, to analyze the characters of chaotic DC-DC converters. Using these methods, the statistic characters of chaotic DC-DC converters are extracted and the foundations for the following researches of chaotic EMI suppression are reinforced. The focus then transfers to estimating the power spectral density of chaotic PWM converters behind an introduction of basic principles of spectrum analysis and chaotic PWM technique. Both relied on the ether hypothesis, which was given up at the beginning of the 20th Century in favour of Quantum Theory and the Theory of Relativity. Quantum Theory and the Theory of Relativity, however, rested on serious logical and mathematical mistakes. Max Planck gave no reasons for the individibility of the quantum, and his quantum jump assumed velocity without taking time. Einstein based his theory on a mathematical self-contradiction that remained undiscovered in a whole century. Both theories must be abandoned.In that difficult situation applying Karl Popper´s theory of science leads to a revival of the ether hypothesis in a different shape. If matter is not distinct from ether but is itself a process composed of ether particles, then their elasticity will explain the phenomena of light, of gravity, of the stability of matter, of the vortex shape of galaxies, and several other phenomena as well.

This paper presents a vision-based motion capture system to quantify changes in temporal domain resulting from motion. The paper also investigates the chaotic behavior of the moving underwater species. The main target is to track the moving object and capture the time sequence behind the moving object. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is successful in tracking the moving fishes and in classifying them. The whole task is divided into several modules-image capturing module, image processing module and time series extraction module. The training performance can be improved if it is possible to take larger time series, more training data and faster frame sequence.

Furthermore, a novel algorithm: Simultaneous Path and Motion Planning is proposed for collision free motion coordination based on Dijkstra and A * algorithms. The appropriateness of heuristic and evolutionary algorithms to solve the problem is investigated. A distributed computational architecture is also developed to improve the efficiency of implementation of the approach. The proposed approach is tested with static and dynamic environments, and validated by using data from an automated container terminal with fleet of autonomous straddle carriers.

In this monograph, two novel mechanical models are presented: an analytical-kinetical model with regard to the kinetics of the human knee joint under non-standard squatting, and a numerical-kinematical model with regard to the local kinematics (sliding-rolling phenomenon) of the knee joint under standard squatting. The new analytical-kinetical model is capable to calculate the patellofemoral, tibiofemoral, patellar tendon and quadriceps tendon forces in the knee joint under different squatting motions. The model takes the effect of a moderate trunk motion (horizontal shift of the center of gravity) into account, thus the influence of this new parameter on the kinetics can be adequatly analysed. The second aim of the monograph is to unfold the sliding-rolling phenomenon related to the currently applied, commercial knee prostheses under standard squatting movement. The phenomenon, which so far has not been studied in such depth with regard to knee prostheses, is addressed by means of multibody models, which consider real three-dimensional geometries, the effect of friction between the condyles, and the collateral ligaments as well.

This work presents the synthesis of a motor with hysteresis motor torque-speed characteristic. The machine is synthesized from a conventional squirrel cage induction motor (SCIM) with high rotor resistance to leakage reactance ratio and a polyphase transfer field (TF) reluctance effect machine with an inverted torque-speed characteristics about the speed axis. Both motors are mechanically coupled and are connected in parallel to the supply. It is shown that the resultant torque which is the summation of the torques of the two component machines is approximately constant from standstill to synchronous speed ωo, typical of hysteresis motor. Globalization has facilitated the expansion of the illicit trafficking of people and goods across borders. In this respect, international organized crime is of high importance in terms of global security, and its importance should be considered more carefully in today’s globalized world. This study proposes that law enforcement agencies can benefit from the use of new technologies and especially Global Positioning System (GPS) in the fight against international organized crime. GPS tracking devices can be used in monitoring criminals because it can detect the exact location of a target in terms of its geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude). The GPS is one of several global satellite services contributing to global security. There are also other satellite services such as satellite phone, satellite internet, satellite radio and television and satellite imagery contributing to global security. This study addresses the contribution of global satellite network services to global security. In particular, it focuses on GPS based vehicle tracking systems, and their use by law enforcement officers in the fight against international organized crime.

Conformal gravity was proposed by Weyl shortly after Einstein's discovery of the general theory of relative. However the model remained stagnant for a number of decades. In the late 1980s a number of interesting and physically relevant spherically symmetric solutions were found. These compared well against observational tests with better results than general relativity for the most part. In this work a review is given of the status of conformal gravity with progress and current problems in the first chapter. The next two chapters follow in this tradition of finding new solutions. Here two solutions are found for the cylindrical topology. After this a number of interesting binary system tests are investigated. The first being that of perihelion precession while the second being related to the affect rotation has on the constancy of direction. Called the geodetic and Lense-Thirring effects, when an observer or source orbits of rotates a number of interesting effects are found which may serve as a test of modified gravity. This is followed by a discussion of the main results and their place in the current work going into the work and testing of Weyl conformal gravity.

Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulations of the steady state Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations using the second order k-ω turbulence model were performed to investigate the Drag Coefficients of the Class 8 trucks under different geometric configurations. The reduction rates of aerodynamic drag using several add-on devices such as base flap, boat tail, underbody skirt and tractor-trailer gap are investigated through the CFD simulations. Moreover, simulations by using different lengths and angles of the base flap and boat tail were conducted; the comparison indicates that the base flap design is more effective for the drag reduction. The optimized range of the length and angle of the base flap design is confirmed by a set of systematic CFD simulations. Also, a set of wind tunnel experiments had been conducted to confirm the outcomes from the CFD simulations.

The magnetic forces and torques acting on a magnetic body are of great importance in wireless actuating principles. Good models are required to allow for precise and predictable motion of the magnetic body. However, analytical results are only available for simple geometries and experiments are often time consuming and may have a certain number of uncertain parameters that may influence the results. Numerical methods, and in particular the finite element method, offer the possibility to study a magnetic body with known material properties in a well defined environment.Consequently, in this work, a method is proposed to calculate the net body torque on arbitrarily shaped bodies in a homogeneous magnetic field using the commercial finite element software Ansys . In addition, a procedure to de- termine the demagnetization factors of these bodies is given. The code is first validated by the known analytical results for an ellipsoid.
