In aquaculture, diets generally represent the largest single cost item of most fish farm operation.The selection of feed ingredients for use in fish diets play a major role in dictating the ultimate nutritional and economic success for farmed fish. Tilapia are normally highly prolific and invasive. They are able to reproduce to a very high density in captivity and easily adapt to a new environment. The growth enhancement potential of Mucuna pruriens utilis on the Nile Tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (L.), was investigated in eight weeks feeding trials in concrete tanks at the African Regional Aquaculture Centre, Aluu,Port Harcout.The results of this study indicate that unfermented Mucuna diet can conveniently replace Soya bean based diet without significantly affecting growth of the Nile Tilapia.

Tilapia males grow almost twice as fast as females. However, to obtain an all-male population based on sex separation, the females must be discarded leading to unnecessary wastage of effort and expenses used in growing the females to sexable size. This study compared growth of mixed-sex and mono-sex of non-improved and the Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia (GIFT) strains of the Nile tilapia. Results emphasized the superior growth performance of the males and of the GIFT strain. Results also indicated that growth of the mono-sex population was much better than that of the mixed-sex, and proved that the non-improved males and the GIFT females had close growth rates. These findings suggest that manual sex segregation of the GIFT strain during the grow-out phase would allow tilapia growers to raise each GIFT sex separately without the need to discard the females as the custom with the slow-growing females of the non-improved strain.

In first chapter, environmental and nutritional requirements are also mentioned as they are closely correlated play a key role in a succesful production. The results of some recent studies and experiments suggest that tilapia has some superiority over other culture fish like faster growth, ability to utilize different feeds, wide tolerance for high stocking densities and environmental conditions. In addition to these advantages, tilapia do very well in integrated culture systemsboth with aquatic species; carp and shrimps, also crops like tomato and lettuce as well. As a result this study is conducted to prove the advantages of commercialtilapia production covering economic values.

This study was carried out to investigate the: The possibility of acclimatization and rearing red tilapia fry under different water salinities (5, 10, 15 and 20 ppt) on growth performance, feed utilization and chemical composition. The effects of myo-inositol dose (300, 400 and 500 mg/kg diet) on growth performance, feed efficiency of red tilapia fingerlings. The responses of hybrid red tilapia fingerlings to rear in mono or polyculture conditions with striped mullet (Mugil cephalus) under different stocking ratio. The present study could conclude that: Hybrid red tilapia was able to tolerate high level of salinity,15 ppt best salinity that possessed the higher growth performance. Supplementation of dietary myo-inositol decreased of fat percentage fish body. Myo-inositol as fed additives improved growth performance of hybrid red tilapia fingerlings, 500 mg/kg diet the best level in diet. The polyculture system of red tilapia and striped mullet were higher than the monoculture every species in growth performance traits, and the best stocking ratio in polyculture was 3 red tilapia: 1 striped mullet with stocking density (40 fish/m3).

This study includes isolation of Salmonella typhi and Paratyphi from blood of clinically suspected patients with enteric fever. The typhoid fever distributed in Sulaimania city (Kurdistan region) during 2007 and 2008 in a high rate, the results showed that (97.77%) of the isolates were Salmonella serotypes AO1, O2, and (2.22%) of the isolates were Salmonella serotype AO1, O4.According to the resistance of isolates to antibiotics, the isolates were classified into10 groups as antibiogram. All isolates showed high resistance rates for cotrimaxazol , chloramphenicol, amoxicillin, streptomycin and ampicillin. Plasmid analysis of two isolates showed that have (55, 20 and 5) Kb plasmid. Curing of antibiotic resistance genes using watery and alcoholic extracts for three medicinal plants: Quercus infectoria oliv. Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Linum usitatissimum (Flaxseed).

The main slot of Salmonella Enteritidis reserves' is the intestinal tract of chickens and their egg through transovarian transmission route. Hence, the main objective of this manuscript is to review the transovarial transmission mechanism of Salmonella Enteritidis in laying chickens. In transovarian transmission, the causative agents could transmit to the offspring following invasion of the reproductive organ. Upon colonizing the reproductive organs, Salmonella Enteritidis could invade both phagocytic and non-phagocytic cells in order to bypass the host immune system. In this review, colonization of the ovary, oviduct, vagina, isthmus and magnum by Salmonella Enteritidis associated with the respective virulence factors has been discussed in detail. In addition to this, the interaction of the pathogen with the forming egg, its growth within the egg, the role of internal temperature of the egg in multiplication of the bacteria has been conferred critically. The parasites infecting the internal organs of Oreochromis niloticus and Tilapia zillii. The system was governed by the principle of “one-pump rule” where culture water was recirculated by a 40-watt pump in a closed loop. The design prevented the system from failure and collapse since only one pump lifted the water from the bio-filtration tank, the lowest section, to the fish tank, the highest section, and allowing water to flow by gravity along the raceway and return pipe network and back to the bio-filtration tank. The system generated good water quality having 5.6 parts per million average dissolved oxygen at 100 per cent average saturation and 21.4°C average temperature with 7.1‒7.5 pH and 250‒390 parts per million total dissolved solids. After a 108-day growing season, 71 pieces of Nile tilapia weighing 22 kilograms and 208 heads of freshwater prawn weighing 1.137 kilograms were recovered while 500 pieces of vegetables with 180 kilograms salable weight were harvested. The system consumed 5,225 liters of water which included 10 per cent evaporation losses. The system was able to utilize and added more value to limited resources such as water, electricity and space by producing more food in one system and structure.

Defense against microbes is mediated by the early reactions of innate immunity and the later responses of adaptive immunity. Innate immunity (also called natural or native immunity) provides the early line of defense against microbes . It consists of cellular and biochemical defense mechanisms that are in place even before infection and are poised to respond rapidly to infections. These mechanisms react only to microbes (and to the products of injured cells), and they respond in essentially the same way to repeated infections. In contrast to innate immunity, there are other immune responses that are stimulated by exposure to infectious agents and increase in magnitude and defensive capabilities with each successive exposure to a particular microbe. The value of groundwater is inestimable, especially in the arid regions of the world. The Nile Valley divides Egypt into two unequal parts: the Western or Libyan Desert and the Eastern Desert. The majority of the population of Egypt is concentrated in the Valley and Delta of the Nile. The Nile Valley aquifer is bounded the River Nile in both Eastern and Western sides. It constitutes the largest shallow aquifer in Egypt and is extensively used for both domestic and agricultural purposes. The work discusses in great detail the geographic extension and the hydrogeology of the aquifer. The chemical composition of the aquifer is attributed to surface water-groundwater interactions, carbonate dissolution, ion exchange and mixing of the aquifer water with deep groundwater. The work concludes an increasing threat of contamination from urbanization, sewer systems installed above the water table, and agricultural activities exists. A great concern should be of potential nitrate pollution of the aquifer and the subsequent health and environmental risks due to increasing agricultural activities.

The River Yamuna, the largest tributary of River Ganga has been one of the most prominent and important rivers of India. Unfortunately, certain stretches of River Yamuna are much polluted. In return, almost the entire wastewater generated by these centers is disposed off into the river. This is the prime reason for deterioration of Yamuna River water quality. Rapid urbanization in Delhi has further compounded the pressure on the sewerage system. Apart from point sources of pollution, diffused sources of pollution such as agricultural pollution and various instream uses of water such as cattle wading, bathing, open defaecation and cloth washing add to the deterioration of river water quality. Although identification of the pathogenic bacteria in few rivers have been done but this is for the first time that we are examining the different water samples from various locations of River Yamuna and selectively isolating bacterial pathogens on respective selective medium allowing only desired bacteria to grow in the enrichment media, staphylococcus aureus and salmonella typhi were detected in the river Yamuna water samples at every location along with their respective bacteriophages.

Scientific Essay from the year 2017 in the subject Literature - Comparative Literature, , language: English, abstract: The aim of this research paper is to explore, by comparing and contrasting them, the two literary characters Hamlet and Oblomov and how they are exploited by William Shakespeare and Ivan Goncharov in different historical ages to project different visions of the human situation. Every author is influenced by his age to certain degrees and if the art of characterisation of William Shakespeare is set against that of Ivan Goncharov, it is because of the difference in ideological perspectives. William Shakespeare's character Hamlet comes from Renaissance England and Ivan Goncharov's character Oblomov comes from nineteenth century Russia. The former is in certain ways different from the latter despite the fact that some traits of both characters are the same, such as indecision and procrastination. The comparison and contrast will be highlighted in this paper in terms of Marxist hermeneutics, which is a scientific theory and method of analysing the social and literary types in the context of class milieu. Applying Marxist literary hermeneutics to the art of characterisation of both the authors, the present study tries to introduce new portrait and reevaluation of the personages of the two literary types in an innovative perspective.

Meat is not only sought after food for human beings, but also for microorganisms especially bacteria, which rapidly grows and multiplies. Several food poisoning diseases are caused by the pathogens like Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli, Vibrio sp. which easily grows and causes hundreds of deaths. Hence, an investigation was carried out for natural novel antimicrobials and antioxidants from spice sources to preserve food. An edible coating was formulated with two spices which would prevent growth of most of the spoilage and pathogenic bacteria like Vibrio spp, Proteus sp., Salmonella sp. and keep meat safe for 3 days at room temperature and at freedge for 15 days. On the other hand an indicator was developed to detect early contamination of meat with pathogens. The indicator aspect of work is patented. This book discusses about the detailed process of screening, selection of spices, development of an edible coating and an indicator. The information provided in this book will be helpful for industries, and common people for processing meat and understanding the safety of the meat.

In this book to study the reliability of a single Widal test and to find out the diagnostic significance of anti O & anti H agglutinin titer in the diagnosis of typhoid fever have checked with sources believed to be reliable in their efforts to provide information that is completely and generally in accord with the standard. In the absence of vaccination and any bacterial infection an elevated levels of anti O and/or anti H agglutinin titer of <1:80 is the diagnostic value for typhoid fever. Our study showed that baseline titers of Salmonella antibodies should be determined in different areas as it can show geographical variation.
