Master's Thesis from the year 2007 in the subject Tourism, grade: 2,2, University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde, 200 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: Tourism has been acknowledged by practitioners and governments to be a tool for economic development, not exclusively but mainly, of less developed countries with few other competitive sectors and, therefore, for boosting their domestic economy as well as reducing the endemic poverty in Africa. This paradigm is difficult to apply when the tourism industry is not viable in a country and the great majority of tourism establishments have insufficient numbers of clients to make profit. In this respect, some findings indicate that, tourism and local small-scale agriculture (World Bank, 2006b) have been widely neglected by the Government of Sierra Leone, all efforts having been directed onto the development of the mining sector. In fact, while production and marketing constraints can be solved as stated in the wider agriculture literature, due to the nature of Sierra Leone as a "fragile state", findings suggest that the lack of commitment and attitude of the Government to more responsible tourism forms or approaches will hamper any attempt to foster strategic alliances between the poor agriculture sector and tourism industry or other lucrative market-segments. Although the recent tourism development in Sierra Leone addresses the important issue of preserving the few available tourist attractions, a...

The study addresses Algeria in general and explains what regional development should be made possible. Concepts of management are explained, leading to a new path of tourism development that should be taken in Algeria. Algeria is a very rich country in terms of tourism, but it has little knowledge about using its resources. Algeria's coastal and saharan desert have excellent tourism potential. By making long-term plans, they can become an indispensable destination for sustainable tourism. Looking at the old history of Algeria, it is clear that this is a country that has hosted many civilizations. It is also the largest country of African in terms of surface area, and it takes a lot of time to be safe because of its size. In the neighboring countries Morocco and Tunisia, tourism is already growing greatly. However, there are few in Algeria to work in the name of tourism. In this thesis, it is explained how management should be handled in order to increase tourism investments. Finally, in a survey study conducted in Algiers city, the opinion of local inhabitants on tourism development of Algeria is also made clear.

Diploma Thesis from the year 2001 in the subject Tourism, grade: 1.3, Heilbronn University, language: English, abstract: Often referred to as the 'smokeless industry', tourism has become one of the fastest growing, most dynamic sectors of economic growth in the world. Tourism is a key sector in many developing countries, which show potential. However, over-reliance on tourism, especially mass tourism carries significant risks to tourism-dependent economies. As a result, many developing countries have since espoused the principle of sustainability in shaping their tourism policies. However, few of them have been able to convert this into concrete action owing to the short-term economic interests to which, all too often, priority is given, to the detriment of protecting social and environmental assets. The purpose of this paper is to create and formulate clear, firm and equitable guidelines in a tourism policy concept that is set in the context of sustainable development and aims further to raise the competitive position of a destination. Theory will be demonstrated in practical terms in the case of the Caribbean tourism destination, the Dominican Republic.

Document from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - General, grade: 9, , language: English, abstract: Currently in India we are observing that the number of labours are shifting from agriculture sector to other sectors of economy. The labour transition occurs due to several reasons one of the main reason is that the fixed wage rate in other sectors as compared to agriculture sector. In this context the Lewis model provides a good framework for explaining the ways in which the fruits of economic development are spread. Lewis divided developing economy into two sectors: subsistence and capital sector. He assumed that the subsistence sector was characterised by surplus labour and low real wages whereas capital sector characterised by capital intensive production and higher real wages. If we transfer excess labour from agriculture to capital sector it will not affect the production and productivity of subsistence sector and it will increase the production in capital sector which will help in development of economy. Lewis' model is mainly applicable surplus labour countries. If we take the example of China, Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam which have evidenced the Lewis model we can compare the India with those countries .China, Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam were gone through enormous labour transition which helped in the development of economy of the respective countries. Such descriptions provide the starting point for raising policy issues about the potential for tourism to make a greater contribution to socio-economic development. Balancing economic well-being with social and environmental well-being has been mentioned as a significant consideration affecting the role of tourism in socioeconomic development.

In the present context of blackouts and severe power shortage it is only explicable that Nepal, among other alternative energy sources, is trying to develop its own wind power. However, lots of factors seem to be impeding its development. Therefore, in order to understand and explore the possible routes to success for the wind power development in Nepal, this book looks into the close neighbor, India and investigates its relative success in Wind Industry. Upon analysis on Indian success on wind technology with regard to the contribution of low carbon technology transfer, it was observed that India effectively assimilated wind technology from abroad following a range of initiatives. Further, exploring the issues related to wind power development in Nepal, illustrated that similar initiatives are required in Nepal as well. Meanwhile, one could also agnize the potential of Nepal-India collaboration in the development process of wind technology in Nepal. This book is thus expected to be useful to wind energy developers and promoters trying to bring wind technology into mainstream in the developing countries and also to low carbon technology transfer advocates.

The economic growth and development of any nation depends upon the human resource development initiative undertaken by the country. With sectorial changes taking place in the Indian economy, the contribution of the tertiary sector today is more than fifty per cent to the GDP of the nation. This sector requires a different set of skills and its growth depends upon creativity and innovation. This can be possible only with the continuous development of science and technology capability through original research. The rapid development of the Chinese economy has been attributed to the human resource development in the science and technology sector. It has been reported in various studies the interest in science as a career has been declining. The science graduates who are unemployed comprise 22.30 percent of all unemployed graduates. The share of science post graduates among the total unemployed post graduates is a high of 62.8 percent In this context the current study tries to assess the HRD in basic sciences, the motivational factors which attract students to science education, the aspirations and ambition of these students and their career choices.

Recently, Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism development is one of the tourism diversifying strategy of Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO). In October 2009, the implementation of Mainland China and Macau Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) limited the restriction of trading in MICE services between the two places. Taking this great opportunity, the development of MICE tourism in Macau benefits from injection of foreign investments and growing awareness on the potential of MICE industry. However, previous researchers commented that the strong gaming image of Macau can be a disadvantage and the effectiveness of MGTO still needs to be improved. Other than the tourism aspects, regional collaboration with nearby Chinese provinces is crucial in building and maintaining long-term relationships. To review on the current state of MICE tourism development, the opinions of 36 experts from different sectors were collected to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of Macau. Scientific Study from the year 2017 in the subject Tourism, University of Kelaniya, course: Economic Modelling, language: English, abstract: Measuring the contribution of tourism to a national economy has always been a frustrating exercise. Tourism does not have specific products. It represents the sum of expenditure by travellers for wide range of products. It is not possible to identify tourism as a single "industry" in the national accounts, its value to the economy is not readily revealed. As a result of the absence of tourism in official economic statistics, there is often an on-going battle to establish tourism credibility as an economic activity and generator of income in the economy. As a result, a significant volume of tourism research over the past few decades have focussed on the development and use of a variety of economic techniques aimed at quantifying the effects of tourism on an economy. In conventional literature has proven that Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling is the best applied tool addressing and analysing tourism related issues in an economy. The paper provided a complete description of the theoretical structure of the CGE-Tourism including all equations and variables by using relevant Excerpts for different blocks of equations in the TABLO file associated with the GEMPACK software used to operationalise the model. The incorporation of tourism using the dummy sector approach into an ORANI type CGE model as an extension and can be co...

It is not easy to protect an unique service by regulation and patent because of the service characteristics. Service firms just only develop innovations continually to define and extend their market. Specially, the growth of some service industries (e.g. tourism) is limited by the once consumption which is difficult to repeat in short duration. The weakness has pushed these service industries to stimulate the new consumption by continual innovations which need many resources. But the ambiguous performance of service innovation could not prove the reasonableness of resource allocation. This study tries to measure new service diffusion as innovation performance in order to help evaluate the innovation decision in service industry.
