These drawbacks are known as Short Channel Effect(SCE).The model of double halo dual material gate combines the advantages of both the channel engineering (halo) and the gate engineering techniques (dual-material gate) to effectively suppress the short-channel effects (SCEs). The model is derived using the pseudo-2D analysis by applying the Gauss's law to an elementary rectangular box in the channel depletion region, considering the surface potential variation with the channel depletion layer depth.

Mobile Ad hoc Networks or MANETs are networks in which multiple nodes, each possessing a wireless transceiver, from a network among them via peer-to-peer communication. There has been significant research activity over the past 5-10 years into performance of such networks with the view to develop more efficient and robust communication protocols. However, the vast majority of the research has concentrated on either developing appropriate mobility models for node movement or on developing performance metrics. The channel itself has been ignored. Some previous work had been done using Rayleigh channel model and Log-Normal model. However this work is based on Ricean channel fading model, which have not done till date.In the current work a more realistic wireless channel model is considered. In particular, we will consider one of the most well known wireless channel models, Ricean fading channel model. In this documentation, effects on the performance of mobile ad hoc networks due to presence of fading in Ricean channel is done by simulating experiments on QualNet simulator and then analyzing them.

The performance of these channel estimation techniques is also studied for EVA standard channel model in LTE. The considered channel model is EVA standard channel model with Doppler shift of 300HZ.Simulation results in this thesis show that the ML channel estimation technique has the best performance. In terms of number of complex multiplications it is proved the ML has lower complexity. A specific example of a plant action potential is used to illustrate the use of genetic algorithms in the search for parameters of models. The efficiency of the genetic algorithms as a search method is in the short generation span of the convergence of the algorithm.We use the genesis simulator to simulate a single compartmental model of a plant cell. The plant cell has a delayed rectification K channel, a Ca channel and a Ca dependent Cl channel. We have omitted the H+ ATPase pump from the model. The depolarization is by the release of Ca from stores and due to a Ca channel and due to the chloride channel that depends on Calcium. There is an IP3 mediated calcium release mechanism which we have simplified in a model of calcium concentration that decays exponentially with time. The genesis package comes inbuilt with search algorithms that include the genetic algorithm. We use this to run a simulation to search for many parameters including the gbar for the chloride and calcium channels and the time constant and middle point of the potassium channel parameters, Ninf and tauN. The main objective was to study and document the new shape of the spillway channel. The model was constructed and located at the NTNU/SINTEF laboratory in the scale 1:30 and lab test were carried out. In this stage observation were made on flow pattern in the spillway and on the channel downstream.On the other hand the model was run for different discharges with the difference of 1 cm opening of the gates to find out the capacity of the both the gates. so this works covers all the finding done under the spillway model to mitigate the problem and the capacity curves for gates in different openings.

Comparison of predictions by the generalized theory with its predecessor, analytical and finite element results illustrates substantial improvement in the satisfaction of interfacial continuity conditions at adjacent subvolume faces of the discretized unit cell microstructure, producing smoother stress distributions and good interfacial conformability. This improvement is particularly important in the finite-deformation domain wherein large differences in adjacent subvolume face rotations may lead to the loss of mesh integrity. Low Bond number open capillary channel flows have been shown to exhibit collapsing free surfaces when a critical flow rate is exceeded, a phenomenon that is referred to as choking. As shown in this work, the critical flow rate can be pre-determined with sufficient accuracy for the presented channel geometry when certain boundary conditions are known a priori. The presented model that describes the flow rate limitation of stable liquid flow through the open channel is examined and compared to numerical simulations and experimental studies. In addition, the characteristics of the supercritical domain, in which bubbles are ingested passively into the flow in the channel, are described and a new model for bubble formation via choking is proposed.

This book presents an algorithm for the detection of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal in a cognitive radio context by means of a joint and iterative channel and noise estimation technique. Based on the minimum mean square criterion, it performs an accurate detection of a user in a frequency band, by achieving a quasi-optimal channel and noise variance estimation if the signal is present, and by estimating the noise level in the band if the signal is absent. Organized into three chapters, the first chapter provides the background against which the system model is presented, as well as some basics concerning the channel statistics and the transmission of an OFDM signal over a multipath channel. In Chapter 2, the proposed iterative algorithm for the noise variance and the channel estimation is detailed, and in Chapter 3, an application of the algorithm for the free-band detection is proposed. In both Chapters 2 and 3, the principle of the algorithm is presented in a simple way, and more elaborate developments are also provided. The different assumptions and assertions in the developments and the performance of the proposed method are validated through simulations, and compared to methods of the scientific literature

Kamps suggested a new theoretical approach, which is called generalized order statistics (GOS). This new model includes ordinary order statistics, sequential order statistics, progressive order statistics and record value. The main purpose of this book is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of the ordinary order statistics, generalized order statistics and dual generalized order statistics based on a random sample drawn from a finite mixture population with k components under general normalization. I obtain a sufficient conditions for this weak convergence, as well as the limit forms. Sufficient conditions are given to guarantee the existence of the weak convergence to non-degenerate distribution when the components are normalized by different normalization constants (linear-nonlinear). Illustrative examples of the most practically important distributions are obtained.

Therefore, a simultaneous equation generalized probit model is used. In the first step, the model is estimated under the assumption that the relationship between economic growth and democracy is linear and in the second step under the assumption the relationship is quadratic. Additional exogenous variables are the degree of urbanization, the age of the regime and the percentage of non-fuel exports in total exports. Further, the influence of religion is taken into account, whereby religion and ethnicity are distinguished. It is observed that the ethnical fragmentation has the opposite effect of religious fragmentation. The outcomes suggest that economic growth and the degree of a country´s democratization indeed are mutually dependent and should not be treated as independent. Additional the outcomes confirm the idea that the relationship between growth and democracy is quadratic.

Petroleum consumption of vehicles is always a concern of many prospective car buyers, yet many seem clueless about its determinants. This paper determines the main predictors of petroleum use of vehicles from six predictor variables, and also developed a statistical model for their consumption. Data were collected on 121 common vehicles in Ghana from seven automobile companies in Accra, Ghana. Statistical analyses used included Pearson’s correlation and Best Subsets Regression, where the Mallow’s Cp and adjusted R-square helped to determine the most adequate and plausible regression model. Key findings showed that weight, width, and horsepower were the highly, negatively and significantly correlated with petroleum use of vehicles. However, the best regression model for prediction involved only Weight and Horsepower. The study bears implications for prospective vehicle buyers, distributors and the Government.

Researchers often use data from multiple datasets to conduct credible econometric and statistical analysis. The most reliable way to link entries across such datasets is to exploit unique identifiers if those are available. Such linkage however may result in privacy violations revealing sensitive information about some individuals in a sample. Thus, a data curator with concerns for individual privacy may choose to remove certain individual information from the private dataset they plan on releasing to researchers. The extent of individual information the data curator keeps in the private dataset can still allow a researcher to link the datasets, most likely with some errors, and usually results in a researcher having several feasible combined datasets. One conceptual framework a data curator may rely on is k-anonymity, k ≥ 2, which gained wide popularity in computer science and statistical community. To ensure k-anonymity, the data curator releases only the amount of identifying information in the private dataset that guarantees that every entry in it can be linked to at least k different entries in the publicly available datasets the researcher will use. In this paper, we look at the data combination task and the estimation task from both perspectives – from the perspective of the researcher estimating the model and from the perspective of a data curator who restricts identifying information in the private dataset to make sure that k-anonymity holds. We illustrate how to construct identifiers in practice and use them to combine some entries across two datasets. We also provide an empirical illustration on how a data curator can ensure k-anonymity and consequences it has on the estimation procedure. Naturally, the utility of the combined data gets smaller as k increases, which is also evident from our empirical illustration.

This is a new direction in mathematics. i-Smooth analysis is the branch of functional analysis that considers the theory and applications of the invariant derivatives of functions and functionals. The theory of numerical ranges has played a crucial role in the study of some algebraic structures and in the theory of Matrix operator. Of course there are many other Banach spaces whose numerical index is unknown such as Orlicz spaces. So we construct some new Banach sequence spaces which are subspaces of Orlicz spaces such as Nakano difference sequence space, Orlicz-Cesaro difference sequence space, Musielak-Orlicz and generalized Cesaro sequence space defined by weighted means, and give some geometric properties of these spaces. Finally we give a lower bound for the numerical index of the two-dimensional real Nakano sequence space. This gives a partial answer to Martin’s question [74] and generalizes the result obtained for the scalar case [71].

Adaptive filters play an important role in the fields related to digital signal processing and communication, such as system identification, noise cancellation, channel equalization, and beamforming. In practical applications, the computational complexity of an adaptive filter is an important consideration. The Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm is widely used because of its low computational complexity ($O(N)$) and simplicity in implementation. The least squares algorithms, such as Recursive Least Squares (RLS), Conjugate Gradient (CG), and Euclidean Direction Search (EDS), can converge faster and have lower steady-state mean square error (MSE) than LMS. However, their high computational complexity ($O(N^2)$) makes them unsuitable for many real-time applications. A well-known approach to controlling computational complexity is applying partial update (PU) method to adaptive filters. A partial update method can reduce the adaptive algorithm complexity by updating part of the weight vector instead of the entire vector or by updating part of the time. In the literature, there are only a few analyses of these partial update adaptive filter algorithms. Most analyses are based on partial update LMS and its variants. Only a few papers have addressed partial update RLS and Affine Projection (AP).
