Organizational behavior is a field that extracts its contents from various social sciences. The purpose of this study is to determine what effective means of orientation are and on boarding of front line human services professionals to organizations and their roles and its potential impact on retention. The desired orientation and on boarding mechanisms that were required; optional mechanism; and the effect solely optional orientation and on boarding mechanisms would have on employee retention. This was done qualitatively, and the results indicate that money and benefits were extremely important and that optional mechanisms increased employee retention rates.

The present study was an attempt to assess religious orientation, psychological distress and frustration as well as to find out relationship of religious orientation with psychological distress and frustration among parents of mentally retarded children. Parents of mentally retarded children were compared on religious orientation, psychological distress and frustration with respect to their gender, education, residence and child's level of retardation. The results showed significant negative correlation between intrinsic religious orientation and psychological distress and significant positive correlation was found between extrinsic religious orientation and psychological distress. The results also showed significant difference among parents of mentally retarded children on frustration with respect to their residence. Significant difference was also found among parents of mentally retarded children on intrinsic religious orientation and psychological distress with respect to their gender, educational qualification and their child's level of retardation.

It also investigates how firms become more market-oriented and whether there is a significant relationship between market orientation and business performance. Data was collected through a survey using a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 160 questionnaires were sent to top and middle level managers employed in 21 food and beverage companies operating in Sri Lanka. 120 questionnaires were returned, all of which were usable. In a next step, the questionnaires were coded into SPSS version 21 for Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis.The results from this study indicate that market orientation has a positive impact on business performance of organizations operating in the food and beverage industry in Sri Lanka. Moreover, the results reveal that customer orientation has a positive significant impact on business performance. In the research of neuronal diseases, a comparison of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histology sections is indispensable. While histology provides information about microscopic structures and chemical composition of brain tissue, in-vivo high-contrast MRI is a powerful tool for detecting pathologic structures in living animals. In clinic practice, the histology-MRI correspondence is often determined visually by experienced neuroscientists. This is a time-consuming and laborious procedure. In this Book an imaging pipeline in described that automatically aligns histology sections to the anatomically corresponding position in the MRI. In order to evaluate the underlying methodology, corresponding anatomical landmarks in MRI and histology were selected by experts. The accuracy achieved by the reconstruction and registration pipeline enables a precise analysis of microstructural features seen in the histology sections and superimposed on the MRI. This in turn is extremely valuable for studying the cellular mechanisms that are responsible for signal changes in MRI.

In recent years the orientation score framework was developed at the BioMedical Image Analysis (BMIA) research group at Eindhoven University of Technology. This framework facilitates the processing of images with crossing lines. Basis of this framework is the transformation of an image to a space with higher dimensionality. In this space the added dimensions represent the local orientation. This results for a 2D image in a 3D orientation space; for every pixel an orientation distribution is calculated along the third axis. The fibrous collagen network in tissue is very determining for its mechanical properties. In tissue engineering it turns out that resembling the mechanical properties of native tissue is very difficult. Thereby it is still not entirely clear how the mechanical properties in living tissue depend on the collagen network. And also the influence of mechanical load on the collagen network is not yet fully understood. The quantification of the collagen network can give more insight in these issues, it is shown here that the OS framework is a very useful tool for this. Written in Mathematica 6.0.

The presence of oriented features in images often conveys important information about the scene or the objects contained; the analysis of oriented patterns is an important task in the general framework of image understanding. As in many other applications of computer vision, the general framework for the understanding of oriented features in images can be divided into low- and high-level analysis. In the context of the study of oriented features, low-level analysis includes the detection of oriented features in images; a measure of the local magnitude and orientation of oriented features over the entire region of analysis in the image is called the orientation field. High-level analysis relates to the discovery of patterns in the orientation field, usually by associating the structure perceived in the orientation field with a geometrical model. This book presents an analysis of several important methods for the detection of oriented features in images, and a discussion of the phase portrait method for high-level analysis of orientation fields. Diarrhoea is a frequent medical problem. Intestinal infection is the most common cause of diarrhoea worldwide and is responsible for the deaths of 3-4 million individuals each year, mostly in preschool-age children. Mebarid syrup, Enterocin syrup and Kutajarishta syrup are Ayurvedic antidiarrhoeal formulations. Though Mebarid, Enterocin and Kutajarishta are widely used in the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery, still there is a paucity of data on the mechanisms of action of these formulations. Present study was aimed to investigate the anti-diarrhoeal effect and different mechanisms of antidiarrhoeal action of herbal formulations like Mebarid, Enterocin and Kutajarishta. Involvement of potassium channels, nitric oxide pathway and α2 adrenergic receptors were studied in mice for antidiarrhoeal activity of Mebarid, Enterocin and Kutajarishta. Master's Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Computer Science - Internet, New Technologies, grade: 4, , language: English, abstract: The focus of this research is to develop an understanding of how visually impaired people face a digital disability divide. The scope of this research is limited to people with visual impairments who may or may not have access to technology. The research shows how to bridge the divide while exploring relevant topics that lead to the conception of feasible solutions. Further, it will contribute to the development of more socially inclusive healthcare information systems. The research is supported by a thorough literature review of articles, journals, and research reports dealing with the major relevant topics. A qualitative research method was used to identify and obtain an in-depth understanding of the healthcare information accessibility (HCIA) barriers that visually impaired people face, and the factors involved in the creation of these barriers. Moreover, a quantitative method was used to collect primary data, and a number of different analysis methods were used to produce results. This led to findings that were generalized to the larger population of the visually impaired. The research shows that, despite the staggering advances in information and communication technology (ICT), the healthcare information needs of the visually impaired are not being met. This book is the first comprehensive and methodologically rigorous analysis of earthquake occurrence. Models based on the theory of the stochastic multidimensional point processes are employed to approximate the earthquake occurrence pattern and evaluate its parameters. The Author shows that most of these parameters have universal values. These results help explain the classical earthquake distributions: Omori's law and the Gutenberg-Richter relation. The Author derives a new negative-binomial distribution for earthquake numbers, instead of the Poisson distribution, and then determines a fractal correlation dimension for spatial distributions of earthquake hypocenters. The book also investigates the disorientation of earthquake focal mechanisms and shows that it follows the rotational Cauchy distribution. These statistical and mathematical advances make it possible to produce quantitative forecasts of earthquake occurrence. In these forecasts earthquake rate in time, space, and focal mechanism orientation is evaluated.
