E-commerce has provided companies almost in every industry to introduce new ways of serving their customers. As with any other markets, physical distribution service (PDS) industry experienced an upswing in the adoption of e-services. This study has attempted to find the limitations and enhancing factors of e-commerce usage, the determinants of e-service and PDS quality, and their underlying relationships in business-to-business physical distribution services, particularly in a pharmaceutical wholesale context. This study provides valuable insights for the multi-channel non-retail PDS industries in terms of the reasons underlying customers' channel preferences and the aspects vital for achieving total quality in their services and respective customer satisfaction. Given the increasing role played by technology in shaping business relationships and transactions in this industry, managers need to pay attention to the level of quality associated to their e-services, because just as overall satisfaction with services, e-satisfaction from e-services is also a strong determinant of customers' future relationships with the distributor.

The study was basically a survey that used the quantitative approach. A structured questionnaire was developed and personally administered to a sample of University of Ilorin students across four major GSM operators in the country. Examination Thesis from the year 2009 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 78/100, The University of Surrey (Surrey University), course: Production and Operations Management MBA P/T, language: English, abstract: Operations strategy can be defined as the strategic decisions and tactics which set the role, objectives and activities of a firm. It derives from the firm's capabilities, resources and processes, seeking to deliver competitive advantage to winning customers through meeting their needs. Competitive factors that are significant in winning customers' business are order winners. Improvements of these factors will likely result in gaining more business to the firm. In order for a firm to have a competitive advantage, it must understand and provide products and services whose factors create order winners for its customers. As a precursor, factors which customers have a certain minimum expected level from are defined as order qualifiers that firms should conform to. Therefore business decisions should be thought of in terms of order winning and order qualifying criteria, designed to win customers and drive business growth to the firm.A firm can outperform rivals only if it can establish a difference that it can preserve. This could be delivering great value to customers or creating comparable value at a lower cost, or both. Such differentiation arises from both the choice of performance objectives activities and how t...

Global competitors are invading the market with new business models trying to win existing customers. At the very same time, customers become evermore demanding by means of price and quality and are willing to switch banks if it deems advantageous. If failing to act on these problems, the future of many German retail banks seems jeopardized.Other industries, in particular the manufacturing sector, have faced similar problems. In the 1980's German manufacturing companies had to cope with similar challenges and managed to successfully overcome their crisis by developing and applying new concepts such as process management, focussing on core competencies and involving external providers into their operations. In the light of this success story, industrialization appears to be a very promising mean to respond to the current situation the German retail banks are facing. While foreign institutes have already initiated successful industrialization activities it has only recently come to the attention of German retail banks. This paper will therefore examine whether and how industrialization concepts can be succe...

As without a demand there is no sense in running a hotel. Customers play a huge role in today's hotel industry, as hotels earn revenue from customers, hence they should be the focus to provide consistency with regards to business, and making them assets to the hotel. But by just making them assets to the hotel, it is not good enough for this ever changing industry and with the advent of technology the value of customers increase as it would also be easier to establish their current worth and plan for the future. Hence hotels would have to look beyond their customer's money, with a view of customers as a measure of their overall performance apart from their physical assets. This performance indicator namely REVPAC (Revenue per available customer) could be used to analyze the hotels revenue per customer with regards to its status in a market share and customer capitalization. The focus and importance of customers is therefore becoming a glaring significance in the hotel industry. Hotels with efficient customer relationship management systems are able to breach all sorts of customer related problems. The work examines the grounds for successful industry development in transition economies, focusing on the two types of ownership: foreign and domestic. The distinction is thus made between industries that are predominantly based on foreign direct investment or on local entrepreneurship, with the aim of establishing which of these contributes more to the development of the local economy and human capital. The method of analysis focuses on case studies of the software industry in three transition countries - Bulgaria, Estonia and Romania, representing different variations of the types of industry ownership. For the purpose of establishing the most successfully developed industry, four factors /groups of factors are analyzed: industry size; production linkages and knowledge transfer; specialization, value-added and innovation; and employment conditions. It is shown that the foreign-owned industries of Estonia and Romania have developed more successfully than the local-owned Bulgarian industry. It can be implied that foreign-owned industries, in particular knowledge-intensive ones like the analyzed software industry, provide better chances for development than local ones.
