Tea plant, Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze, used to produce the oldest and most popular non-alcoholic soft beverage across the world, is one of the most important cash crops of many countries, including Vietnam. Known as a freely cross-pollinated plant, with many overlapping morphological, biochemical and physiological attributes, tea can not be separated into discrete groups to identify various taxa. Since hybrids are used and clonal propagation is recommended, genetic diversity of tea can be diminished if care is not taken. Information on taxonomic characteristics, genetic diversity and biogeography of tea in the living collections may help in identifying genotypes with high productive potentials which could be used as progenitors to improve the existing genetic base of commercially grown tea. Revealing the genetic diversity by using molecular markers has assisted breeders assigning appropriate parents to be used in crosses.

Extensive genetic diversity in natural parasite populations is a major obstacle for the development of an effective vaccine against the human malaria parasite, since antigenic diversity limits the efficacy of acquired protective immunity to malaria. Genetic diversity is one of the prominent features of Plasmodium falciparum infections. To the best of our knowledge, This is the first effort of elucidation and genetic correlation has not been investigated before on genetic diversity of P.falciparum field isolates from Jharkhand, India and as such it bridges an important gap in the understanding of the molecular characteristics of the parasite population in South East Asia, especially Jharkhand, India, an understudied and tribal dominant region with perennial malaria.Our data provided the link between the genetically acquired immunity, infection and diversity through complex interplay of transmission cascade in population exposed to falciparum malaria.

This study compare the effect of the slope direction of genetic variation and morphological diversity of male and female Juniperus polycarpos and effect of slope position of genetic variation in Juniperus polycarpos in Chahar Bagh habitat. For this study, samples of branches and scales were done two years of growth. Immediately, the samples were prepared extracts. Quantitative and qualitative studies of the peroxidase activity were measured using a spectrophotometer, poly acrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) and morphological evaluation was performed using Binoculars. The results showed that, compared the branch and scale, scales has more variety.The results showed that, compared organs scales with branches,scale has a greater variety of branch. The results morphological marker are also accordance with isozyme markers. But the diversity of isozyme markers showed more morphological markers.Eastern slopes and back slopes and male trees were more diverse.

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is an important fruit crop in India and in subtropical countries of the world. This is subjected to various disease problems and bacterial blight caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. Punicae. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) based molecular markers are useful tools for different detecting genetic variation within populations of phytopathogens. The analysis of RAPD polymorphism in single cell isolates of X. axonopodis pv. punicae from different parts of Nashik districts revealed the occurrence of high level of polymorphism (79.87%) indicating wide and diverse genetic base.Among 10 primers used to detect the genetic diversity of isolates, 6 primers exhibited good amplification. Remaining 4 primers showed very poor amplification.

It has many commercial applications such as production of plywood, pulp and paper, boxes and crates, furniture and light construction components. Molecular characterization of N.cadamba is needed so that the qualities of its progenies are maintained. In this project, DNA genotyping of Kelampayan were carried out to determine the genetic relatedness of Kelampayan progenies. One selected ISSR primers: (AG)9C was used to assess the genetic diversity and genetic relatedness of 150 N.cadamba progenies (half-sib) from Matang 05, Lawas 24 and Lawas 29. This primer had successfully amplified 17 loci ranging between 389 bp to 1,047 bp, by which Lawas 29 was the most polymorphic (100% polymorphic). The Shannon's diversity index for Lawas 29 was the highest (0.4453) compared to Matang 05 (0.2064) and Lawas 24 (0.1731) populations while the Gst value for the populations was 2.5837.The gene diversity within the population (Hs) was 0.1783, whereas the total gene diversity (Ht) between the populations was 0.2128.

The fruit provide two MJ per kg/wet weight of ripe perianth and contain high levels of carbohydrates, protein, starch, calcium and vitamins. Jackfruit has diverse medicinal uses especially for anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-cancer and anti-fungal activity. MatK (maturase K) genes are fast evolving, highly variant regions of plant chloroplast DNA that can serve as potential biomarkers for DNA coding and also in generating primers for plants with identification of unique motif regions. Advances in the genetic markers such as RFLP and PCR based methods are more reliable for identification of genetic diversity than morphological markers, although each technique has advantages and limitations. The objective of this research work was to estimate the level of genetic diversity and to assess genetic relationships among six varieties of jackfruit using 'matK gene' based on PCR technique and RFLP markers. The partial sequence of the 'matK' gene of six different Artocarpus varities was used in the analysis. The size of amplified products was approximately 700 bp. Mesopotamia was the cradle of life. As It characterized with ecosystem diversity, it has specific diversity of fishes specially those they belong to family Cyprinidae. All the previous studies to discriminate among Cyprinidae members particularly the most similar species of genus Barbus followed traditional methods such as biometry, Osteology and protein electrophoresis. The present study included the most common six Barbus species belong to the subfamily Cyprininae: B. xanthopterus, B. kersin, B. barbulus, B. grypus, B. Sharpeyi, B. luteus and Cyprinus carpio as a close relative from other genus belong to the same subfamily in addition to Aspius vorax as another species belong to sister subfamily Leuciscinae. This study is the first on DNA fingerprints of Mesopotamian cyprinid fishes using RAPD-PCR technique. It efficiently differentiates among these eight species, genetic diversity and phylogenetic tree. MtDNA cytb and 16SrRNA genes were used to confirm their classification to the genus and subfamily levels. Proteomic is now increasingly considered as useful technique to reveal genetic diversity among different bacteria isolates differentiating live pathogens from dead ones. This book, therefore, reveals proteomic diversity of thirty Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) isolates, the causative agent of rice bacterial leaf blight disease in West Africa, using isozyme polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) analysis. The study revealed 23 isozyme loci in which SKDH produced 33.3-93.3 % polymorphism, EST and G6PH equally gave 40-96.7 % polymorphism within the Xoo isolates enzyme profile. Phylogenetic relationship among 30 Xoo isolates revealed two major genetic groups (Xoo-A and Xoo-B) with two subgroups each (Xoo-A1 and Xoo-A2) and (Xoo-B1 and Xoo-B2). The distinct pattern of each isolate suggested high level of genetic variation and frequent occurrence of mutants in Xoo isolates in different host cells. This information should especially be useful for rice breeders, rice pathologists, rice disease epidemiologists, rice biotechnologist and the scientific community aiming at development of durable Xoo resistant rice cultivars to different localities in West Africa.

Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is one the best known among various taxa of economic, medicinal (anti-cancerous, healing, blood purifier properties), ornamental and cultural importance of the genus Curcuma. India and Thailand with at least 40 species in each area have the highest diversity. Genetic variability in a population can be partitioned into heritable and non-heritable variation with the aid of genetic parameters such as variance, genotypic coefficient of variation, heritability and genetic advance, which serve as a basis for selection of some outstanding genotypes from existing ones. Cluster analysis have proved to be effective methods in grouping turmeric accessions that may facilitate effective utilization of the accession in crop improvement programmes through selection, as conventional breeding is difficult in this crop. Moreover, correlation and path analysis of morphological traits indicated importance of desirable traits for strengthening the turmeric breeding programme for higher rhizome yield.

Three studies were conducted to describe the flowering and fruit set, pollination ecology and genetic relationships and variations of Jatropha curcas L. accessions in Malaysia. For the first study, investigations were carried out by observing the floral morphology, flowering sequence of pistillates, floral anthesis time, flower daily anthesis, flowering and fruiting behaviour pattern, flower sex and fruit set ratio of J.curcas. The organogenesis of the floral reproductive organs was examined using Scanning Electron Microscope. For the second study, investigation was carried out by observing the flower visitors behaviour based on the duration of each visit by an insect species, mean abundance, peak hour of visitation, and rate of visitation during 5 min periods (number of visits/min) throughout the day for 10 plants. 8 insect species were found to visit J.curcas flowers. For the third study, the experiment was undertaken to assess the extent of genetic diversity in a representative set of 16 accessions of J.curcas. ISSR analysis was used to establish the genetic relationship among the accessions. Only 6 ISSR primers generated a polymorphic banding profile out of 8 primers used.

The fruit contains high levels of carbohydrates, protein, starch, calcium and vitamins. Jack fruit has diverse medicinal uses, especially anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-cancer and anti-fungal activity. Jackfruit is considered to be an underutilized fruit where most of the fruits get wasted due to ignorance, lack of post harvest technology and gaps in supply chain systems. Jackfruit contains more protein, calcium, iron, vitamins and other essential nutrients as compared to the common fruits. To find out the morphological variation among jack fruits among Kerala we conducted an elaborative survey and found out the parameters such as tree characteristics, leaf characterises or fruit characteristics of selected samples. Both qualitative and quantitative data are measured using field visits and standard methods and morphological indicators; after analysis of data there is a morphological variation among the jack fruit samples identified. Advances in the genetic markers such as RFLP and PCR based methods are more reliable for identification of genetic diversity than morphological markers although each technique has advantages and limitations. The information may also enable forensic toxicologists better interpret post-mortem toxicology results.

The hilsa shad, Tenualosa ilisha is an important anadromous clupeid species from the Western division of the Indo-Pacific region. It constitutes the largest single fishable species in Bangladesh. Information on genetic variability and population structure is very important for both management and conservation purposes. We examined genetic variability and divergence in two riverine (the Jamuna and the Meghna), two estuarine (Kuakata and Sundarbans) and one marine (Cox’s Bazar) populations of T. ilisha by applying PCR-RFLP analysis of the mtDNA D-loop region. The amplified PCR products were restricted with four restriction enzymes namely, XbaI, EcoRI, EcoRV, and HaeIII. High levels of haplotype and gene diversity within and significant differentiations among, populations of T. ilisha were observed in this study. The UPGMA dendrogram based on genetic distance resulted in two major clusters, although, these were subsequently divided into three, corresponding to the riverine, estuarine and marine populations. The study underlines the usefulness of RFLP of mtDNA D-loop region as molecular markers, and detected at least two differentiated populations of T. ilisha in Bangladesh waters.

Wheat is the main economy crop of pakistan,it is cultivated on area of 9.062 million hectare,& producing about 23.42 million tons and grain yield 2585 kg/hectare.Drought the major factor which reduce the wheat production in Pakistan.In the present research,out of twenty wheat varieties studied Miraj-08(8.97g), Sussui(8.53g) and Sandal (8.45g),Tandojam-83(7.53) and Chakwal-86(6.90) and were found best in yield production per plant.For numerical analysis 18 morphological traits were used.Dendrogram analysis of morphological traits assorted the 20 wheat varieties into 4 clusters.The clusters represent genetic dissimilarity among various varieties of wheat studied were found to be different from each other based on their characterization. In Molecular marker studies variety Dirk is found best for drought.Average genetic dissimilarity(estimated as genetic distance)among 20 wheat varieties based upon the amplification pattern of RAPD primer GLB-11, GLA-13, GLC-01, GLC-04, P-6 and P-7 are presented in the(Table-20)based on the tables 14,15,16,17,18,19.Range of genetic distance estimated was from 10 to 100%.Maximum genetic distance (100%) were estimated for only one comperison.
