Also, speed, and position tracking are achieved using the proposed control technique. The difference among them is studied carefully to conclude the best control method. For unbalanced operation of the two-phase induction motor when used either as a servomotor or single-phase applications. The method of symmetrical components transformation is used to simplify the steady state analysis of the machine.. An experimental prototype, which consists of a PC computer based controller, a PDA inverter, and two phase induction motor is used to verify the validity of the proposed control technique .

Although pure GST exhibits superior qualities in terms of speed of transition and thermal stability, several aspects such as the minimization of the writing current and a reduction in the wavelength of the writing laser beam need to be addressed. In this study, the effect of nitrogen doping on the optical and electronic properties of GST has been analyzed from first principles.

Although three-phase electric machines play a great role in almost all industrial applications, they still have limitations to cover high power requirements needed for traction, propulsion and other high power applications. Nowadays, multiphase electric machines with high output power can solve this problem. A multiphase machine does not only provide higher torque per unit volume, but it also provides higher degrees of reliability due to fault-tolerant capability provided by the additional degrees of freedom. This is a crucial issue for safety-critical applications, e.g., electric ship propulsion, air crafts and aerospace applications. This work presents in details a seven-phase induction motor drive based on indirect field oriented control technique with fault-tolerant controller, which allows the motor to ride-through the fault period caused by a phase loss. Using MATLAB simulation, the problem of "phase disconnection" is addressed and two fault-tolerant control strategies are proposed to compensate its effect.

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) have become increasingly popular due to the recent availability of affordable devices providing multiple and high rate capabilities. Optimizing the performance of WLANs for emerging new Internet applications that demand High Throughput (HT) is an important and a highly challenging issue. In this book, we present a new practical Rate Adaptation (RA) algorithm, termed L3S, which extends legacy schemes with new MIMO features suitable for the forthcoming 802.11n high-speed MIMO-based WLAN products. We implement our rate adaptation algorithm in real hardware devices and evaluate its performance and compare it to the existing rate control mechanisms. Our experiments demonstrate that our scheme allows the current 802.11n devices to have a greater adaptability to a variety of wireless channel conditions and performs better than state-of-the-art rate adaptation algorithms.

The rate of Iraqi power demand has been increased significantly faster than the infrastructure's development and it becomes very difficult to keep the system stable especially with the current acts of vandalism against the country, so it's very important to improve the power system stability. The object of this work is to improve the stability of the Iraqi National Super Grid System (INSGS) by installing Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) devices in different optimal locations under fault condition and comparing the results with those of without UPFC devices under the same condition. The optimal location of the UPFC device was specified based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimization method, it was utilized to search for optimum UPFC parameters setting and location based objective function that depends on the power and voltage as a fitness constraints. The results obtained showed that the installation of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) devices at the optimal locations of the Iraqi grid gives an improvement in the stability by damping the voltage and rotor angle oscillations after subjected to the three phase fault to ground at different locations and different cases.

The phase behaviour of metal carboxylates has been the center of significant research over several decades, mainly because they exhibit several pre-melting phases on heating; some of which are liquid crystalline whilst others are crystal-crystal phases. Since for some compounds smectic C type mesomorphic phases are observed, there is great potential for application in Liquid Crystal Display Devices (LCD). Furthermore, their high stability, low toxicity and relative cheapness indicate that they represent viable alternative to conventional nematic and twisted nematic liquid crystals. Interestingly, though these compounds have been know for decades, there remain some unanswered questions regarding the relationship between their solid state structures and phase behaviours, the role played by molecular packing during melting and the characterization of their phase textures. Hence, in this study, the solid state structure and thermal behaviours of a homologous series of silver(I), sodium(I) and Potassium(I) carboxylates are investigated via via solid state NMR and infrared spectroscopies, X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing light microscopy.
