LED lighting has a promising future in consumer markets. Many researchers have conducted researches to improve the LED driver efficiencies. In this book, a computer model of a high efficiency resonant power LED driver is developed. The LED driver circuit is constructed and simulated at 20 kHz to 35 kHz of switching frequencies of the MOSFET. The OrCAD 16.2 is used as simulation software. The computer simulations show that the efficiency of the resonant power LED driver is considerably higher compare to that of conventional LED resistive drivers. The MOSFET used in the LED driver circuit has three different models: MOSFET SPICE level 1, level 3 and commercial MOSFET SPICE model (IRF6668). The output power of the LED driver is controlled by the switching frequencies of the MOSFETs and the simulation results suggest that the power resonant LED driver with commercial MOSFET can achieve up to 90% overall system efficiency.

While academic research provides many potential reasons, only a few have concentrated on internal and external influences on switching behavior as well as actual compliance with theoretical models.In this context, a survey has been undertaken in the Federal State of Mecklenburg-West-Pomerania to analyze the personal relevance of different motives for consumers. Furthermore, the survey also aimed at analyzing the compliance of theoretical criteria, provided by the Norm Activation Model and the Theory of Planned Behavior, in order to see whether respondents intent to switch after all. Therefore, the survey was distributed via the snowball system and has been completed by 115 respondents, providing data on 77 respondents who still consume conventional power.Though academic research has identified many potential motives for the switching inertia such as the lack of information, trust, and transparency in the electricity market, the survey at hand only confirmed one significant reason for non-switching. This reason relates to the consumers' perception that green power is quantitatively not sufficient to supply the whole German electricity market.

The electromagnetic interference (EMI), which resulted from the high rates of changes of voltage and current, has become a major design criterion in DC-DC converters due to wide applications of various electronic devices in industry and daily life, and the question of how to reduce the annoying, harmful EMI has attracted much research interest. This book focuses on the analysis and application of chaos to reduce harmful EMI of DC-DC converters. After a review of the fundamentals of chaos behaviors of DC-DC converters, the authors present some recent findings such as Symbolic Entropy, Complexity and Chaos Point Process, to analyze the characters of chaotic DC-DC converters. Using these methods, the statistic characters of chaotic DC-DC converters are extracted and the foundations for the following researches of chaotic EMI suppression are reinforced. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is utilised to estimate a best practice frontier and to evaluate the performance characteristics of different hospitals in the two countries. The measurement categories of input factors are represented by the hospital size (amount of beds), number of wards, number of employed medical specialists, sum of total inpatient admissions, demographic environment (population density in population/km²), and one output factor (mortality rates).Regarding these factors, the main findings reveal that the allocation of inefficient hospitals in England is broadly spread and, therefore, the mean efficiency value of hospitals in England is ≈44% (whereas 100% describes efficient units). In contrast, the mean efficiency value of German hospitals equates to ≈91%. The aim of this book is to present a way in which the efficiency of solar power collection can be increased. It is to increase the efficiency of solar power conversion by increasing the amount of time that the solar panel is directly perpendicular to the sunlight. New technique of solar tracking using solar-powered Stirling engine as the power source for the tracking motor are presented. Efficiency is based on accurately positioning the solar panel throughout the day and thus motors and Light Dependent Resistors (LDR) have been selected as the primary driving mechanism of this system. This book presents a Sun tracking design, whereby the movement of a photovoltaic module was controlled to follow the Sun's radiation using a Light Dependent Resistors (LDR) and the power source of PV tracking are coming from solar-powered Stirling engine. The results will decrease the power for operating solar tracking system by selecting the solar-powered Stirling engine as the power source for motor of solar tracking system. All electronic circuits and the necessary software have been designed and developed to perform the technical tasks.

The maincontrol objective is to regulate the dc link voltage for operation at maximumavailable wind power.This is achieved by controlling the and axescomponents of voltages and currents for both rotor side and line sideconverters using PI controllers. Nuclear power is a cheap and traditional form of energy. Therefore, there is a large international supply with a strong demand for it. Nevertheless, there are also big risks in the production of nuclear power. Nuclear meltdowns with far-reaching consequences have occurred in the past, e.g. the well-known meltdown at Chernobyl in 1986 and the newest disturbance at the Fukushima nuclear power station in Japan in 2011. These have provoked a major global, public discussion on the future energy supply from nuclear power stations. In Germany, 17 nuclear power stations supply most households and companies with energy, and 7 of the oldest nuclear power stations are temporarily recaptured from the electrical network. An important consideration regarding the economical shutdowns of nuclear power stations in Germany dominates public workaday life. The alternatives are renewable energies. However, they supply only a small amount of energy. If there is a consideration to shut down nuclear power in Germany, it is significant to do so in an economical manner.

Introduces chaos theory, its analytical methods and the means to apply chaos to the switching power supply design DC-DC converters are typical switching systems which have plenty of nonlinear behaviors, such as bifurcation and chaos. The nonlinear behaviors of DC-DC converters have been studied heavily over the past 20 years, yet researchers are still unsure of the practical application of bifurcations and chaos in switching converters. The electromagnetic interference (EMI), which resulted from the high rates of changes of voltage and current, has become a major design criterion in DC-DC converters due to wide applications of various electronic devices in industry and daily life, and the question of how to reduce the annoying, harmful EMI has attracted much research interest. This book focuses on the analysis and application of chaos to reduce harmful EMI of DC-DC converters. After a review of the fundamentals of chaos behaviors of DC-DC converters, the authors present some recent findings such as Symbolic Entropy, Complexity and Chaos Point Process, to analyze the characters of chaotic DC-DC converters. Using these methods, the statistic characters of chaotic DC-DC converters are extracted and the foundations for the following researches of chaotic EMI suppression are reinforced. The focus then transfers to estimating the power spectral density of chaotic PWM converters behind an introduction of basic principles of spectrum analysis and chaotic PWM technique. Invariant Density, and Prony and Wavelet analysis methods are suggested for estimating the power spectral density of chaotic PWM converters. Finally, some design-oriented applications provide a good example of applying chaos theory in engineering practice, and illustrate the effectiveness on suppressing EMI of the proposed chaotic PWM.
