This book analyses the impact of learning behaviour in different economic environments. All cases are motivated by real world puzzles which cannot be explained by models with rational expectations: The size and persistence of exchange rate volatility, the possibility of financial market crashes without news, and progress in disinflation in transition countries despite limited credibility and conflicting monetary and fiscal policies. In particular, the author shows that adaptive learning behaviour adds additional dynamics to economic models, which are not present under the assumption of full rationality. Certain types of hysteresis in financial markets can be explained by relaxing the rational expectations assumption; credibility and transparency of economic policies matter even more when agents learn about their economic environment; and markets with incomplete and asymmetric information are inherently unstable and prone for market crashes.

The purpose of this study was to explore paradigms, policies and practices governing alternative education. I sought whether current alternative education dimensions, models and pedagogies were aligned with 21st Century learning principles set forth by the BC Ministry of Education. I interviewed key informants and approached this study with an Interpretivist qualitative research design grounded in Phenomenological principles. Findings were generally congruent with the literature regarding defining, describing and understanding alternative education. Suggestions included redefining success and using relevant criteria to evaluate program efficacy and student achievement. Successful alternative education characteristics and features were highlighted and compared to the 21st Century learning paradigm. Preliminary findings indicated similarities between the two educational philosophies. Recommendations included using successful alternative programs as models to implement 21st Century learning in mainstream schools. Future research should include student, teacher and parent voices regarding alternative education delivery models, services and evaluation.

A mixture of graphical and mathematical approaches is used to carry out this study. Geometric models have been used to represent the different gob models. Geometric models facilitate the manipulation of volumetric data. A simple and effective technique is used in this work. The problem is divided into steps. Volume measurement through a line scan technique is simulated. An easy to use graphical user interface (GUI) is designed to interact with the gob model and check the results of volume measurements.

A detailed analysis was prepared for the child care industry in Japan as well as for the home market Australia in order for comparisons to be made. This paper provides a situation analysis about the Japanese environment and a SWOT analysis followed by various models and research. This report will recommend marketing strategies and an estimated planned budget for ABC Learning in order to achieve marketing objectives. Finally, implementation and control will be provided in form of an action plan. After comprehensive analysis, the recommendation is for ABC learning not to enter the Japanese market at this stage. Reasons for this decision will be discussed throughout the report as well as in the conclusion.The scope of study was limited to the operations and activities of ABC learning in Australia, based on publicly available information.
