Exact analytical solutions to periodic motions in nonlinear dynamical systems are almost not possible. Since the 18th century, one has extensively used techniques such as perturbation methods to obtain approximate analytical solutions of periodic motions in nonlinear systems. However, the perturbation methods cannot provide the enough accuracy of analytical solutions of periodic motions in nonlinear dynamical systems. So the bifurcation trees of periodic motions to chaos cannot be achieved analytically. The author has developed an analytical technique that is more effective to achieve periodic motions and corresponding bifurcation trees to chaos analytically. Toward Analytical Chaos in Nonlinear Systems systematically presents a new approach to analytically determine periodic flows to chaos or quasi-periodic flows in nonlinear dynamical systems with/without time-delay. It covers the mathematical theory and includes two examples of nonlinear systems with/without time-delay in engineering and physics. From the analytical solutions, the routes from periodic motions to chaos are developed analytically rather than the incomplete numerical routes to chaos. A long-standing unsolved problem in economic theory is how economic equilibria are attained. In order to migrate software product variants that are considered similar into a Software Product Line (SPL), it is essential to identify the mandatory and optional features between the product variants. To exploit existing software variants and build a SPL, a feature model of this SPL must be built as a first step. To do so, it is necessary to mine optional and mandatory features from the source code of the software variants. Thus, we propose in this book, a new approach to mine features and feature models from the object-oriented source code of a set of software variants, based on Formal Concept Analysis and Latent Semantic Indexing. To validate our approach, we applied it to ArgoUML and Mobile media case studies. The results of this evaluation validate the relevance and the performance of our proposal, as most of the features were correctly identified.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the complexity of software products. Software metrics are proposed to help show indications for quality, size, complexity, etc. of software products. In this book, software metrics related to complexity are developed and evaluated. A dataset of many open source projects is built to assess the value of the developed metrics. Comparisons and correlations are conducted among the different tested projects. A classification is proposed to classify software code into different levels of complexity. The results showed that measuring the complexity of software products based on decision coverage gives a significant indicator of degree of complexity of those software products.

The nonlinear behaviors of DC-DC converters have been studied heavily over the past 20 years, yet researchers are still unsure of the practical application of bifurcations and chaos in switching converters. The electromagnetic interference (EMI), which resulted from the high rates of changes of voltage and current, has become a major design criterion in DC-DC converters due to wide applications of various electronic devices in industry and daily life, and the question of how to reduce the annoying, harmful EMI has attracted much research interest. This book focuses on the analysis and application of chaos to reduce harmful EMI of DC-DC converters. After a review of the fundamentals of chaos behaviors of DC-DC converters, the authors present some recent findings such as Symbolic Entropy, Complexity and Chaos Point Process, to analyze the characters of chaotic DC-DC converters. Using these methods, the statistic characters of chaotic DC-DC converters are extracted and the foundations for the following researches of chaotic EMI suppression are reinforced. The focus then transfers to estimating the power spectral density of chaotic PWM converters behind an introduction of basic principles of spectrum analysis and chaotic PWM technique. Invariant Density, and Prony and Wavelet analysis methods are suggested for estimating the power spectral density of chaotic PWM converters. Finally, some design-oriented applications provide a good example of applying chaos theory in engineering practice, and illustrate the effectiveness on suppressing EMI of the proposed chaotic PWM. Stochastic replicator dynamics pertains to a population of players (individuals, businesses, animals, bacteria, etc.), each programmed to use a single strategy (or type of behavior). The dynamics aspect is related to the change in proportions of players who are applying the given strategies. This work examines the stochastic replicator dynamics driven by white Gaussian noise (WGN) in the Stratonovich form. This approach provides more natural results concerning stochastic stability, instability and extinction of pure strategies of stochastic replicator dynamics models. It is demonstrated that the asymptotic behavior of the system with two pure strategies depends only on the pay-off matrix and does not depend on the intensity of the random perturbations. Sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability, as well as for strong instability, of the stochastic replicator dynamics with n pure strategies are derived. Further, the extinction of the strictly dominated pure strategies is proven. It is shown in particular that this extinction takes place independently of the intensity of the WGN.

Scientific Essay from the year 2012 in the subject Computer Science - Commercial Information Technology, , language: English, abstract: AbstractThis work aims to propose a qualitative "starter model" for a new software defect prevention for better Software Quality. Software defect prevention methods and models have made substantial progress in recent years. But this still falls short of the needs of today and the future. One contribution is a qualitative model that takes into account key determinants and their interlinked effects. The model is based on System Dynamics and the elements involved in the software development process, e.g. the human being, management, members of staff, work psychology, quality, methods, organizations, customer, culture etc. Current research status comprises 15 identified important key determinants, their respective strength, interrelationships and dynamics. The model is operationalized with a software tool capable of modelling all the key determinants defined, their effect directions and other data of the comprehensive matrix they make up. With the research results made, the new defect prevention model shows promise. The research is due to continue further in order to contribute to improved defect prevention in the software development process. The main objective of this research work is to develop Software 1A in C/C++ programming language, which is obtained from the Matlab code. This developed Software 1A should be able to be interfaced with the Code Composer Studio of the Texas Instruments along with the dasa5 system which able to run the algorithm. The goals of this research can be divided into mainly three parts. Firstly, we should develop the lab testing environments at dasa Control systems AB; Vaxjo;Sweden; and verify the results using the Visual studio C++.Secondly, we need to verify the developed algorithm in the crane lab in the practical environment. Lastly, we need to design the parameters which could suite the real crane environment with a suitable forwarder. The forwarder will then be used for the tests of the implemented algorithm.

Introduces chaos theory, its analytical methods and the means to apply chaos to the switching power supply design DC-DC converters are typical switching systems which have plenty of nonlinear behaviors, such as bifurcation and chaos. The nonlinear behaviors of DC-DC converters have been studied heavily over the past 20 years, yet researchers are still unsure of the practical application of bifurcations and chaos in switching converters. The electromagnetic interference (EMI), which resulted from the high rates of changes of voltage and current, has become a major design criterion in DC-DC converters due to wide applications of various electronic devices in industry and daily life, and the question of how to reduce the annoying, harmful EMI has attracted much research interest. This book focuses on the analysis and application of chaos to reduce harmful EMI of DC-DC converters. After a review of the fundamentals of chaos behaviors of DC-DC converters, the authors present some recent findings such as Symbolic Entropy, Complexity and Chaos Point Process, to analyze the characters of chaotic DC-DC converters. Using these methods, the statistic characters of chaotic DC-DC converters are extracted and the foundations for the following researches of chaotic EMI suppression are reinforced. The focus then transfers to estimating the power spectral density of chaotic PWM converters behind an introduction of basic principles of spectrum analysis and chaotic PWM technique. Invariant Density, and Prony and Wavelet analysis methods are suggested for estimating the power spectral density of chaotic PWM converters. Finally, some design-oriented applications provide a good example of applying chaos theory in engineering practice, and illustrate the effectiveness on suppressing EMI of the proposed chaotic PWM.
