The irrigation performance of Kobo valley irrigation project, Ethiopia, a small-scale irrigation scheme, was analysed with the use of remote sensing technique. The major advantage of remote sensing derived data over field measured data is that it provides spatially distributed and objective information. Five irrigation performance indicators, entirely based on remote sensing and statistical data, were applied to assess the irrigation performance. The surface energy balance algorithm for land model was applied to Landsat images to calculate evapotranspiration and crop water consumption spatially. These maps were used to analyse the performance of irrigation and the crop water requirement.

This study evaluates the technical efficiency and the changes in total factor productivity of public primary schools Kenya grouped into 72 districts. The approaches used are the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and DEA-based Malmquist productivity index. In addition, a second-stage tobit regression is estimated to determine the possible causes of inefficiency. Mean scores in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination are used as output while gross enrolments, pupil-classes ratio and pupil-teacher ratio are used as inputs. In the second stage, a dummy variable to capture the location of the district is included in the model.The analysis of Tobit regression shows a negative significant relationship between Pupil Teacher Ratio is and efficiency thus high pupil teacher ratio is associated with inefficiency. Districts located in urban areas are found to perform better than their rural counterparts.

This report summarizes the results of six year (1996-97 to 2002-03) of Remote Sensing (RS) based district-level wheat acreage estimates and agromet model predicted wheat yields. District-level preharvest wheat production forecast in major wheat growing districts in Himachal Pradesh was attempted under crop acreage and production estimation (CAPE) project. Single date Indian Remote Sensing Satellite digital data, coinciding with flowering to grain filling stage of wheat was analysed for wheat acreage estimation using maximum likely hood (MXL) supervised classification and district boundary mask approach. Agrometeorologial yield models were developed for wheat yield forecast using meteorological data such as minimum-maximum temperatures, rainfall and sunshine hours. The meteorological indices viz. Growing Degree Days (GDD), Temperature Difference (TD), Accumulated Rainfall (ARF) and Accumulated Sunshine Hours (ASH) were computed and used in model development. This report also brings out problems in wheat acreage estimation in hilly terrains using Remote Sensing data.

In this work, we implemented a spectrum sensing methodology based on the Truncated Sequential Probability Ratio Test (TSPRT). The TSPRT is a combination of SPRT and Neyman-Pearson. We created and simulated the model and observed the variation of quantization error, noise variance and dynamic range of the signal to achieve the minimum average sample number (ASN) and desired error probabilities of detection and false alarm for sine wave and similar input signals. This report comprises of theoretical analysis and practical implementation of spectrum sensing circuit in Xilinx system generator. Simulations are done to observe the effect of various parameters on ASN and shown.

Data that emerge reveal that there is a direct relationship between the degree of workers' participation in the various organizational decision making processes and job satisfaction, industrial harmony, and productivity. Both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria are capable of using quorum sensing communication circuits for regulating a diverse array of physiological activities. These activities include symbiosis, competence, virulence, conjugation, antibiotic production, sporulation, motility and biofilm formation. Characterization of forest fuels is a key component of the successful implementation of any fire management system. Great advances have been made in the characterization of forest cover by the use of remote sensing technology. Characterization of understory fuels, however, has been limited always by the difficulty of current remote sensing products to observe through the canopy. This limitation underscores the importance of exploring approaches related to site environment characteristics that can influence the production and accumulation of understory fuels. This work explores the relationships between topography, fire history, vegetation type and downed woody fuel loadings in the forested area of the Rincon Mountains in southern Arizona. The Classification and Regression Trees method is used to predict fuel loads through the influence of predictor variables. Results show that fine woody fuel loads tend to be explained by vegetation type and slope, while coarse woody fuels are predicted best by differences in elevation.
