Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: A cell culture System to mimic the circumferential expansion of the arterial wall was supplemented with a flow control System for model enhancement. The given System imposed uniaxial sinusoidal stretch (1 Hz) with a 10 % elongation to an elastic silicone substrate upon which rat aortic smooth muscle cells were cultured. Occurring fluid motion during a stretch experiment caused oscillating shear stress upon the Gell layer of approximately 0.6 dynes/cm2 (60 x 10-3 N/m2) and was controlled by the newly added oscillatory flow System. Experiments were performed and investigated at 0, 4, and 24 hours. Morphological observations correlated with the results obtained by the initial stretch experiments. A final median angle of orientation of 60° - 70° from the axis of stretch was observed. Both control cultures remained randomly oriented throughout all experiments. Inhibition of cell proliferation alter 4 hours of cyclic stretch, observed by Karen J. Schnetzer could not be confirmed. However, growth related results did correspond to the preceding study in a qualitative manner. Influences of oscillatory flow an SMC growth and morphology were not different to the steady-stretch control. Analysis of results confirmed the assumption made for the earlier culture system, that effects of oscillatory fluid motion occurring during the cyclic stretch experiment could be neglected. This report consists of lab scale experiments and amendment studies of biosolids from Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant, Auckland New Zealand. The physiochemical parameters of interest in this study were lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, total carbon (TC), inorganic carbon (IC), pH and dry solid contents.In the first stage, this study was carried out to develop protocols for the accurate assessment of the selected physiochemical parameter in biosolids then; this study was further extended by planning various sets of experimental runs to study the temporal trends in biosolids. In one set of experiments, biosolid amendment was carried out with different concentrations of lime. In other set of experiments biosolid was amended with fixed amount of lime and different concentration of fly ash. Both of the amendments were made on the basis of percentage of the dry weight of the biosolid. In this study, the data for the selected physiochemical parameters was recorded at Day-1, Day-8 and Day-56. The results were plotted independently for tested parameters showing temporal changes with different incubation time in microcosms studies.

This dissertation addresses the issue of voltage margin improvement by integrating DG unit and, therefore, this dissertation presents the model to enhance the candidate bus voltage of distribution system by optimal integration of DG units. The technical analysis is performed for radial distribution system (RDS).The proposed algorithm evaluates the base condition of loss and bus voltage and then generate populations of solutions at first stage. Optimization of DG unit size and locate the optimal bus can be done with the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method. The proposed paradigm works with the objective that minimize the active power loss under a constraint of voltage limit and DG size limit.Finally, the conclusion is that DG unit can locate optimally with optimized size to the distribution system for the voltage profile improvement of the buses and also the total loss of system is reduced. It is also concluded that the model can be used for any radial distribution systems.

Classical planning is the problem of finding a sequence of actions for achieving a goal from an initial state assuming that actions have deterministic effects. The most effective approach for finding such plans is based on heuristic search guided by heuristics extracted automatically from the problem representation. In this thesis, we introduce alternative approaches for performing inference over the structure of planning problems that do not appeal to heuristic functions, nor to reductions to other formalisms such as SAT or CSP. We show that many of the standard benchmark domains can be solved with almost no search or a polynomially bounded amount of search, once the structure of planning problems is taken into account. In certain cases we can characterize this structure in terms of a novel width parameter for classical planning.

One D/D card for receiving values from the optical encoders and one for timing. The basics of artificial neural network type perceptrons were described. The special features bias, output feedback, momentum term, adjustment of momentum factor and adjustment of learning rate for this artificial neural network type were considered. An introduction to learning and control structures using artificial neural networks were given. These were controller copying, direct modelling, direct inverse modelling, control with a model and an inverse model, forward and inverse modelling, control action feedback error learning, feedback error learning, learning and control using the plant’s Jacobian. The conversion of two learning and control structures, direct inverse modelling and control action feedback error learning, was implemented in software using „MS QuickBASIC 4.5“.
