This work shows a novel method to characterize the power perfor­mance of a wind turbine directly from fluctuating data. In particular, it shows how to evaluate the dynamic responses of the power per­formance system on fluctuating wind speeds in the range of seconds. The approach is based on the stochastic differential equations known as the Langevin equations of diffusive Markov processes, which decomposes the fluctuating power production of wind turbines into their deterministic relaxation and stochastic-force (noise) contains. The operated steady-states of the complex power production system of a wind turbine on turbulent winds can be now properly reconstructed. The method is universal and not only more accurate than the current standard procedure but it also allows a faster and robust estimation of wind turbine power curves. In addition, the stochastic power out­put of a wind turbine is analyzed in the response theory.

Cameroon has vast renewable energy resource potentials, with a hydropower potential of about 55, 200MW, second only to the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa. So far, its energy needs are met by 4.8% hydropower (which accounts for less than 5% of its total hydropower potential), 0% wind and 0% solar. Cameroons' energy sector still goes through insufficient electrical energy production, especially during the heart of the dry season, which runs from December through March. Coincidentally, the wind and solar power potentials for Cameroon are at their peak during these months and could conveniently supplement for the shortfalls in generation during these periods.In this research, technical analyses were carried out to determine the wind and solar energy resource potentials for Cameroon using the RETScreen software tool provided by CANMET Canada. These analysis revealed that the northern regions of Cameroon had higher wind and solar resource potentials than any other location in Cameroon. A 2MW installed wind energy capacity would be capable of generating well over 1.5GWh electrical energy per year, while a 2KW installed solar energy capacity will be capable of generating well over 3MWh electrical energy per year. A special type of induction generator, called a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), is used extensively for high-power wind applications. They are used more and more in wind turbine applications due to the ease of controllability, the high energy efficiency, and the improved power quality.This research aims to develop a method of a field orientation scheme for control both, the active and the reactive powers of a DFIG that are driven by a wind turbine. Also, the dynamic model of the DFIG, driven by a wind turbine during grid faults, is analyzed and developed, using the method of symmetrical components. Finally, this study proposes a novel fault ride-through (FRT) capability with a suitable control strategy (i.e. the ability of the power system to remain connected to the grid during faults).

While academic research provides many potential reasons, only a few have concentrated on internal and external influences on switching behavior as well as actual compliance with theoretical models.In this context, a survey has been undertaken in the Federal State of Mecklenburg-West-Pomerania to analyze the personal relevance of different motives for consumers. Furthermore, the survey also aimed at analyzing the compliance of theoretical criteria, provided by the Norm Activation Model and the Theory of Planned Behavior, in order to see whether respondents intent to switch after all. Therefore, the survey was distributed via the snowball system and has been completed by 115 respondents, providing data on 77 respondents who still consume conventional power.Though academic research has identified many potential motives for the switching inertia such as the lack of information, trust, and transparency in the electricity market, the survey at hand only confirmed one significant reason for non-switching. This reason relates to the consumers' perception that green power is quantitatively not sufficient to supply the whole German electricity market.
