Since the proposed system accurately estimates the phase difference in the out-of-focus blurred image under low illumination, it can provide fast, robust auto focusing.

The goal of this research is to use aspects of object recognition technologies for automatic automatic image annotation.

The differential-phase-shift (DPS) QKD protocol has a number of practical advantages: its suitability for fibre transmissions; use of readily available telecommunication tools; no requirement for a single photon source (the generated states are assumed to be easily produced coherent states) and thus high communication efficiency. However, bounds for the unconditional security of DPS QKD have not yet been found. Here the security of the DPS QKD protocol is investigated, and a necessary condition for security is shown to be fulfilled.

Noise reduction is an important step for development of any sophisticated algorithms in computer vision and image processing. A tradeoff between the removed noise and the blur in the image always exists. The capability of the wavelets to give detail spatial-frequency information is the main reason for the use of wavelets. This property promises a possibility for better discrimination between the noise and the real data. Successful exploitation of the wavelet transform might reduce the blurring effect or even overcome it completely. Object tracking is a problem of estimating the positions and other relevant information of moving objects in the sequences of image video. The main difficulties in reliable tracking of moving objects include: rapid appearance changes caused by image noise and interaction between multiple objects. In a long sequence of image video, if the dynamics of the moving object is known, prediction can be made about the positions of the object in a particular frame. This information can be combined with the actual image observation to achieve more robust results. We have explored a possibility to use wavelet transform for object tracking.

In this study, we define phase derivatives of analytic signals through non-tangential boundary limits, and consequently raise a new type of derivatives called Hardy-Sobolev derivatives for signals in the related Sobolev spaces. We prove that signals in the Sobolev spaces have well-defined phase derivatives that reduce to the classical ones when the latter exist. Based on the study of several types of phase derivatives and their properties, we mainly work on the following three subjects: (1)We extend the existing relations between the instantaneous frequency and the Fourier frequency and the related ones for smooth signals to those in the Sobolev spaces. (2) Based on the phase derivative theory and the recent result of positivity of phase derivatives of boundary limits of inner functions the theoretical foundation of all-pass filters and signals of minimum phase is established. Both the discrete and continuous signals cases are rigorously treated. (3) We study a particular type of time-frequency distribution exclusively suitable for mono-components, called transient time-frequency distribution(TTFD). For multi-components we carry on a corresponding study.

Using range images and matching a query image to a dataset of geo-tagged images is current research. This thesis investigates the prospects of applying 3D Shape feature detectors and descriptors to a point cloud projection of the range image. Therefor at first the keypoint detection methods Normal Aligned Radial Feature (NARF), Intrinsic Shape Signatures (ISS) and HARRIS3D detector are described, followed by the shape feature descriptors Spin Images, Signatures of Histograms of Orientations (SHOT) and Unique Shape Context (USC). Special attention is paid to the parameters. Varying radii, border estimation methods, preset filters and computing times are analysed in order to determine, how to set those parameters to obtain good results. The results exhibit the shortcomings of the state-of-the-art 3D feature algorithms, in application of indoor navigation. Finally suggestions for improvement are made.

However, data on distribution of endangered species are limited. Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus) is one of the endangered species in the world that its population has been declining by 50% in the last three decade. In this study, we have tried to test the predicted distribution of potentially suitable habitat for Egyptian Vulture in Iraq by using Maxent as species distribution model. To achieve these aims, we could be done with species distribution model outputs of Egyptian Vulture from occurrence data assembled from Nature Iraq and made distribution predictions, demonstrating how landscape and environmental variables may affect the species distribution and we determined their importance and compared known habitat of Egyptian Vulture from KBAs with predicted habitat predictions from Maxent. The model performed very well. The AUC value is 0.870, which is better than random prediction. The results indicate that one of the precipitation inputs, bio_13, contributed 54.3% to the final description of potential habitat for the Egyptian Vulture. The displayed results give a better insight of the company, its position, its corporate image and its desired identity. These findings were carefully analysed and the outcome showed that there indeed are clear discrepancies between the company's desired identity and corporate image, this causes for a gap. A gap analysis and swot analysis are implemented to attain the most accurate information about this gap. To accomplish the company's set objectives and reach the image position it desires a key idea is designed for the company. The final recommendation made to the company is a set schedule, when following this schedule the company should reach the image position it desires.

The common belief that 'supplements' are not potentially dangerous has resulted in a limited amount of information about youths (of school-going age) and their 'supplement use' habits. Nowadays, the application of Medium Voltage (MV) drives has grown due to the increasing demand of high efficiency and energy saving in industry, traction, power generation, power transmission, and distribution. Among the MV multilevel converters available on the market, the Three-Level Neutral Point Clamped Voltage Source Converter (3L-NPC VSC) has emerged as one of the most important topologies. One important disadvantage of this topology is the unequal power loss distribution and consequently, an unsymmetrical junction temperature distribution. In order to ensure that the most stressed power switches do not exceed the maximal allowable junction temperature, the converter output power and switching frequency have to be limited. To overcome this drawback, the Three-Level Active Neutral Point Clamped Voltage Source Converter (3L-ANPC VSC) was developed.There are two different loss balancing methods evaluated in this work: the already known Active Loss Balancing (ALB) method and a new method, the predictive active loss balancing (PALB) method. The use of the balancing methods applied to the 3L-ANPC VSC present outstanding results in all critical operation points as compared to the performance of the 3L-NPC VSC. Thus, the phase current and the output power range can be increased without exceeding the thermal limitation of the semiconductors. The problem is how to optimally determine the location to install capacitors, the types and sizes of capacitors to be installed and during each load level, the control schemes for each capacitor in the nodes of a general 3-phase radial distribution networks such that a desired objective function is minimized, while the load constraints, network constraints and operational constraints at different load levels are satisfied.
