Water production has been introduced as a severe and complicated issue in oil industry over the last two decades, and its' control has always been one of the most critical challenges in the oil fields. During the production life of oil wells, water is produced from the producer well due to the encroachment of water from aquifer or injected water in the reservoir, and sometimes the volume of water produced is much higher than the volume of oil produced. However, water can play an important role in maintaining reservoir pressure; it needs to be shut off when its' percentage reaches uneconomical limits. In particular DDF was failing to procure spare parts for maintenance purposes .Critical technical staff as well as logistics in the water division was virtually non-existent. Without exception the RDC also had serious challenges of its own, in ensuring that efficient management structures at all levels were in place and functioning for effective management of hand pumps. Given this scenario, the communities were found not ready to be left on their own to manage their water supply systems in a sustainable manner.

This study was conducted to assess the socioeconomic status and gender role of cereal crop production in two VDCs of Arghakhachi district. A pre-tested semi-structured questionnaires were used to collect the information from the respondents. Two VDCs were selected purposively and 60 HHs (30 from each VDC) were selected randomly for the survey. Cereal crop production has great contribution in HH income and livelihood upliftment. The study area was male dominated. Agriculture was the major occupation in the study area. The average area under rice (7.46 ropani) was more followed by wheat (4.58 ropani) and maize (4.35 ropani) in the study area. Hybrid variety of rice, HYV of maize and local variety of wheat was most popular. Seed was higher for wheat (10.73 kg) followed by rice (8.75 kg) and maize (6.5 kg).Total production of rice was higher than maize and wheat.The major problems in the study area were lack of technical assistance, lack of irrigation facilities and low quality seed.

Aubergine is an important dietary vegetable grown all over the country. The crop is subjected to high degree of instability in production,mainly on account of losses caused by different insect pests at different stages of the crop. Meghalaya (part of North Eastern Himalayas)is highly weather dynamic which are most conducive for development of different insect species and their natural enemies. Recently it has been observed that minor pests are becoming major in some commercial crops. Therefore,periodical surveillance may help to recognize the relative economic importance of different pests on that crop. Nearly 25.82 to 92.50% damage is attributed due to shoot and fruit borer. Management of this notorious pest by using conventional insecticides and synthetic pyrethroids has been found effective. However,indiscriminate use of insecticides has resulted in development of resistance,environmental pollution,bio-accumulation and bio-magnifications of toxic residues which leads to ecological imbalance. Considering these entire quandaries and to keep uncontaminated biodiversity,the study was conducted to evaluate some Eco-friendly insecticides as well as pheromone for their bio-efficacy.
